OliveCast Releases Newer, Better Version of Body Camera App
OliveCast, the body camera app for Android devices has released a new version that better supports newer versions of Android. This new version also works with the Samsung Xcover series of rugged phones.
According to Zhou Wenhan, CEO of Smart Walkie Pte Ltd, “We significantly re-wrote this app to support newer Android versions. We have verified that this app works on most Samsung Phones including Xcover Pro and Xcover5. These are on Android 11 and Android 10.”
The OliveCast app turns Android smartphones into body-worn video cameras for security and legal purposes. Created with law enforcement and security personnel in mind, the app records video and automatically tags it with the date and time. It’s designed to record incidents quickly without having to use the on-screen button which may take too long. The auto-start feature works best on phones that can launch apps with programmable keys.
This app ensures that entire incidents are captured on video with background record. It continues the recording even if the app is no longer on the screen or the screen is turned off. The viewfinder shows the user what is currently being recorded. When launching the app, the user can choose which camera and rotation to use for the auto-start feature.
Videos recorded with OliveCast can be stored on the phone’s internal storage or an SD card. Users can view and replay the videos from their gallery or file manager. The build-in player protects the security of the footage by limiting users’ ability to edit or delete it.
