February 27, 2019 – In the lead up to Hollywood’s biggest night, the Oscars, one cannabis brand was setting a new standard for luxury Hollywood gifting suites.

On Friday February 22 at The Venue (an upscale VIP venue in Hollywood, located within the Dolby Theater complex, where the Oscars were held on Sunday night) BudTrader.com, the Universe’s largest Cannabis Social Media Platform, hosted an exclusive cannabis gifting suite to honor nominees and other film industry VIPs. The weekend leading up to the biggest awards show is traditionally a time of high-profile entertainment industry parties and high-end gift bags for nominees, but the BudTrader Save the Weed, Save the World event was the first ever all-cannabis VIP gift lounge to feature during a major awards show.

“BudTrader made history at the Save the Weed, Save the World gifting suite,” says BudTrader CEO Brad McLaughlin. “The feedback I heard all day from our VIP guests was, ‘What took you so long?’. These people are operating at the highest levels of the entertainment industry, and so many of them have had to hide their cannabis use due to outdated moral codes. We broke new ground for cannabis in Hollywood with our event, and I am proud of that.” McLaughlin also stated: “Gift lounges are supposed to be a place where celebrities can relax, chill out and be themselves and have fun. I’ve been to other gift lounges that give out tupperware and luggage… How are you supposed to relax with luggage? It just made sense to create a gift lounge by the cannabis industry for celebrities that are cannabis enthusiasts! It’s time that we connected.”

BudTrader.com is the largest online cannabis social media marketplace. Its platform is available in the United States where cannabis use is legal, as well as Canada and Puerto Rico. Their two-million registered users can safely and legally post and reply to classifieds-style ads for cannabis products, services, jobs, equipment and more while also networking.

Nominees, celebrities, filmmakers, influencers and members of the media who attended the BudTrader Save the Weed, Save the World Cannabis Gifting Suite received a smell-proof hemp duffle bag, emblazoned with the BudTrader green and white logo. Inside the bag were deluxe and exclusive cannabis/CBD products and other weed-related gifts. Items were carefully curated by BudTrader’s team to represent the best of the cannabis industry.

We got to take a look at the star-studded guest list for the BudTrader pre-awards show gifting suite! Attendees included Craig Robinson (The Office, Hot Tub Time Machine), Trisha Rae Stahl (Glee), Dominic Keating (Star Trek: Enterprise), Daniel Franzese (Mean Girls), Andre Allenberg (Entourage), Blaine Gray (Narcos), Scout Taylor Compton (Halloween, The Runaways), Billy Wirth (Lost Boys), Vanessa Zima (The Babysitter’s Club), Farrah Abraham (Teen Mom), Tasha Courtney (Playboy, Playboy TV), Kristopher Maz (Rock, Paper, Scissors), Alice Ko (Silicon Valley), Tony Winters (Silicon Valley), Jill-Michele Melean (Reno 911), Robert MacEwen (Mindhunter), Tasha Courtney (TBL), Marc Cleary (director Pepper), Jayson Glick (Bethany), Ivory Broome (Speed 2), Hari Tahov (model), Kyle Shaw (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Cody Pressley (Stranger Things), Jake Jensen (Alone Yet Not Alone), Brent Harvey (Natural Vice), Joshua Lee Young (Beauty Queen Murders) and Rolonda Watts (media personality). Also in attendance were high-profile athletes such as John Salley (five-time NBA champion, BudTrader Advisory Board), JD Harmon (NFL & Ex on the Beach) and Ian McCall (UFC, MMA, podcast host). Rappers Slim 400 and Scrilla King were also in attendance. In a surprise appearance, Cosmo, the supermodel great dane dog who has modeled for Gucci, strutted his stuff for the 300 guests in attendance, and snacked on CBD dog treats from Bark Bliss.

Proceeds from the event were donated to the BudTrader charity, Save the Weed, Save the World, which has already helped veterans find jobs in the cannabis sector and researched a proposal to grow hemp as a way to combat global climate change.

Sponsors who contributed are among the most prestigious cannabis brands in the business, including Enerhealth Botanicals, My Best Bud, Josh D, Hashbone Vape, Natural Emphasis, Traveling Hands Massage, Pure Hemp Rolling Papers, Pride Wellness, Therapy Tonics & Provisions, HempZoo, LA Kush, Centurion Extracts, Bark Bliss, Rove Vape, NEWSZN, QWIN CBD Technologies, Highgarden, CRU Cannabis, Randy’s Club, and Rosin Bomb. Guests also got to enjoy the art of Doug Mau and High Art Studios; his work graced the walls of the dispensary in the Netflix show, Disjointed. Linzy of Linzy’s heART-work was also there, working on her latest cannabis-themed painting and chatting with attendees.

Guests of the Save the Weed, Save the World gifting lounge also enjoyed a surprise musical performance, starting at exactly 4:20PM, from members of Imagine Dragons. Magician Derek Ostovani was on hand to perform card tricks that amazed guests. Food was provided by Village Pizzeria Larchmont, an LA favorite. Attendees were treated to chair massages from Traveling Hands Massage, using CBD and THC infused oils.

Many guests stayed all day to mingle, to enjoy the music, massages and food, and to sample even more high-end cannabis products from BudTrader.

As the night wound down, it was clear to everyone there that the BudTrader Save the Weed, Save the World cannabis gifting suite event would live on in Hollywood history as the night that cannabis acceptance finally broke into entertainment’s mainstream. This writer embraces the change!
